Acting weird...

Izzy is acting super weird lately. Normally, while she doesn't LOVE being picked up, she doesn't complain once she's in my arms. The past couple of days she FLIPS if I pick her up. Hissing and meowing at me. And if I come up to her to pet her, she meows at me and runs away. But then I'll be sitting on the couch and she'll come up to me for cuddles.

There doesn't seem to be any specific spot that she doesn't want touched. Took her to the vet, they did bloodwork and urinalysis. Everything came back completely normal. No fever, no wounds. No bugs. She's eating, drinking, and voiding normally.

But you and I know that we just KNOW when something is wrong. She's not acting like herself. And no, nothing in the environment has changed recently. My routine is same old, same old. No parties, no crazy guests. And this started before putting up Christmas decorations.

Awww....poor Izzy. Have there been xrays done to check for injury? When my vets did xrays on Chunk in search of the elusive cause of hypercalcemia they discovered he had some mild arthritis in one of his vertebrae. The suspect it might have been from a jump or fall, although we cannot recall any specific injury. I wonder if there is some sort of injury that is just not showing itself right off that is a bit tender, or a memory of some sort.

No x-ray unless they did it and didn't tell me or bill me for it, haha. I double-checked the statement they gave me. They updated her shots, did the bloodwork, checked her for any bugs or signs of injury. She hasn't been in for a well kitty check in a while, so the vet gave her a thorough look-over.

She DOES really like to jump from high places, and she's going on 7 years old... I suppose it could be arthritis. She's still a very lean cat, barely 8 lbs. So at least that isn't a concern. I can't recall seeing any hesitation or signs of distress while jumping recently, but of course if it hurt she probably wouldn't show it unless it was literally killing her. Oh, cats...

I will add x-ray to the list of ideas to bring up with the vet in the event this doesn't blow over here soon. It's certainly plausible.

Didn't you just recently move, and working long hours? Remember, transient stress.

If vet didn't find anything, perhaps she isn't ill, but rather standoffish due to stress.

Otherwise, keep an eye on her, as long as she's eating/drinking and eliminating normally, this might just be stress from your recent changes.

Came home from work today, got greeted with purrs and cuddles. Picked her up, no protest. Just like that, everything seems to be fine.

Cats, man. I'm not gonna lie, I overanalyze everything after Emmy. But I KNOW something was bothering her last week. I'm just glad it seems to have passed. Still keeping a close eye on her...

She is so cute! I am the same way with my cat, any little tiny sign that something is different and I freak out. Granted, recently there has been reason to freak out, but in the past 12 years, I have overreacted every time! I'm glad she's ok!
