Catnip tea for crabby cats

Post by diloretta »

My girls had been squabbling for a few days. A friend suggest catnip spray. I had a better idea.

I brewed a cup of catnip tea and set it in the room with the crabbiest cat, and just let it steep for 15 minutes. It wafted about the room and knocked the cat out cold for seven hours. When she woke up everything was fine.

Nothing that a good cup of tea can't cure.

Do you mean the two cats have not yet "forgotten" the incident from last week? Are you trying to pretend nothing happened and encouraging them to resume their normal routines?

You did not actually allow either cat to DRINK the tea, did you? (catnip tea is to be drunk by humans, not cats)

And forgive me for asking but when you say "knocked out for 7 hours", she was not actually non-responsive, was she? If so, then please don't do this again. Steeping the tea could actually intensify the effect of the catnip and if in an enclosed area, the "aroma" could have been a bit too much for her. Not trying to be an alarmist, just want to state "anything can happen".
