Have some questions about new kitty
My kitten ( who i got from a shelter a week ago ) was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection on thursday. the vet gave her an antibiotic, and a dewormer and sent us on our way. Her eyes were weepy and she was sneezing at times but other than that she seemed in decent health. The weepyness has subsided almost completely, and she is hardly sneezing at all, but in the last few days i have noticed that she makes an audible sound while she breathes when she is resting. half the time it is a whistle, the other half a hollow air sound. is this congestion in her nasal passage? she doesnt seem to be having breathing problems, but the noise is bothersome to me. I've also noticed that she occasionally (maybe two or three times so far) as made a noise that almost sounds like a burp or like she is almost going to vomit but doesn't. It seems to happen after she has been especially active. I don't know what the noise is....could it be a deep cough? Finally...i've also noticed the last few days that she's had some unusual litter box behavior. I observed her this morning (she didn't realize i was watching....very private kitty) digging and digging rapidly. when she finally squatted, it didn't seem like she was straining, but when she was finished the poo seemed to be stuck hanging out of her butt. she swirled around a few times and it fell off, then she scooted around the carpet for a few minutes, then she seemed fine. i looked at the feces and it looks normal, not to hard or too soft, not discolored. She has some fleas (using a comb...she's only 8 weeks, too young for chemicals) and they seem to have taken up residence in her hind area, could that be a cause of that? sorry i have so many questions, but i am concerned for this little ball of fur Oh yeah, she is drinking lots or water and has been eating as well.

Congratulations on your new kitty!!
I am suprised the shelter did not vaccinate, or deflea your new kitten.
As well, the vet should have checked her over for fleas. You can use Advantage or Frontline on an 8 week old kitten. Please contact the vet for some and use it.
I would have her rechecked, I just went through this and it took 2 weeks for my kitten to get rid of her cold. The vet gave her Clavamox and increased the dosage a little and it did the trick. You can take her into the bathroom, hold her and turn on the shower to steam the room. Of course do not let her in the shower area, only to breathe steam. This helps clear her nasal passages.
