using bathtub instead of litterbox

Post by RiaTroutman »

Our 4 1/2 yr old longhair cat, has decided this past month, that about twice a week she will use the bathroom IN our bathtub. WHY?? Nothing has changed, not the brand of litter, cat food, nothing. I even completely dumped the litter out, scrubbed out the litter box and put all fresh in... hoping this would stop it.. But NO. Needless to say, I am NOT amused by this. The litterbox is scooped out daily. She has to go PAST the litterbox to go to my bathroom.

Any suggestions or ideas on WHY she has started this?

other than a uti (which needs a vet check to be sure)...have you tried placing the litter box in the tub to see if she uses then?

by uti, you mean urinary tract infection? I don't mean she is wetting, I mean she is taking a dump in my bathtub. Other days she uses the litterbox, but about twice a week, once daily, she decides to leave a nice smell in the bathroom. I would keep the door shut, but no window in that bathroom, so it needs to be open for air to circulate and dry up moisture.
