Sammy just got used to having Mama cat when her and babies left for a week now they are here but next week Mama will be leaving for 3 days to get spayed then he'll have them all around for a while till it's time for the kittens to start leaving. He is still eating ect. normally but I think it bothers him. Do cat's miss other cat's when they leave, even if they have not been around for a long time? Will he feel that he could be the next to go? I understand that cat's don't have complex thoughts but, I want him to feel that this is his house forever.

Re: Cat's coming and going
I can't really speak for the cats, but I think they do. I know when either of our two older cats were at the vets for an extended period because of illness, the other cat seemed to miss them even though they don't get along. Just give him lots of sweet talking and petting...he should be OK. Watch out for any signs of depression, lethargy or anorexia. If those show up it's to the vet ASAP.

i think cat's can miss their feline companions.... one of mine ran away and was gone for 3 weeks (TORTURE!). For the first 2 weeks while she was gone, the other 3 seemed restless. They would walk around the house, look under the bed, behind doors... but when she finally came back they were pretty scared of her for awhile. I think they get used to having companionship.
