Darned Hematomas
Re: Darned Hematomas
How's Gypsy doing, Tambrey? Is she on a short course of antibiotics? Does she have an e-collar, and not shaking her head/ears?

she is doing really good....and she is not shaking her head nor did she even need an e-collar...she has not bothered her ear at all....
of course it was sensitive the first couple of days, if she brushed it on my shirt or even if my hair fell down...but now, she is fine and it looks great....
They gave her an antibiotic shot there and of course instruction to keep it clean, which I have done...but she has not had any infection since the surgery, so all looks good.
she goes in the 28th to have stitches removed...
he did a great job sewing her ear as well..she may not even look too cauliflower earish when she has healed...
you'll notice that she has a couple of "skin tabs" on that ear as well...they have never grown or changed in look or shape, so we leave them be

Poor baby! It looks pretty swollen, so please keep a close eye on that, it should be reducing, but if it starts bothering her, contact your vet immediately....the sutures may be able to be taken out sooner.
If the ear doesn't reduce swelling, or is hot to the touch, it's painful for her, again, is she on antibiotics?

Yes, I did notice when I took those pics it was a bit swollen today, along hat front edge, which is has not been....it is not hot to the touch at this time, nor tender since I touch it and she does not whine or anything....
She is not on antibiotics...but would have been if I had noticed infection....but of course I keep close watch on it, she is on my lap the moment I sit down...hahaha...
She is eating well and being her usual self with the others, so that is good!

Ok, watch it like a hawk, make sure the swelling is going down, it should EVERY DAY since surgery, if it isn't, call your vet. It's good that she is not scratching and shaking her head, but some infections can be slowly progressive so keep a close eye on that. She's eating ok and otherwise doing her normal routines?
ETA: somehow I missed your last sentence, LOL, good to hear...

she is doing good today....the swelling has gone down considerably....her ear is almost translucent with how close the skin is healing back together....
It is not hot to touch...no odor....and she is acting as if nothing is wrong!!
