peeing outside the litter box

I found my cat as a stray about 5 months ago & she has always peed inside her litter box. Recently she has been waking me up at 7am meowing, she has food and a clean litter box. She has also been peeing right next to her littler box, and not in it, and I do not understand why. Please help!!

First thing you need to do is get her to a vet ASAP and have her checked for a urinary tract infection or any other health problems that could be causing this. Once your vet has ruled out health problems we can address behavioral issues, but usually improper littler box use is indicative of health problems. Hopefully you had a full vet check when you adopted her!

thank you so much for answering so quickly!!! yes, she has had a full vet checkup and her shots, but she always has new problems. I will call the vet tomorrow. Thank you again!!

Agreed, my cat only started urinating outside of the litterbox to attract my attention...as far as I know, and when he did, he found a white blanket to show me the blood in his urine.
Or so I think, but it worked, and I got him diagnosed for FUS in the nick of time!
