question about meds
Almost 7 years in remission from Graves disease and no meds!
Re: question about meds
Not really, unless there is an anaerobic bacteria that is changing in the GI and affecting stool consistency. Metronidazole (Flagyl) is commonly used for giardia, coccidia etc, but should always be dosed carefully because it isn't without side effects (vomiting, weakness, lethargy etc).
Constipation, if problematic, should be addressed by your vet, most often it can be corrected with proper diet, but if there is a condition such as IBD going on, then additional treatment with medications such as antiinflammatories (pred) can be helpful, or lactulose or cisapride.
