Poop on the Fur

Post by Nagasadow »

Hi everyone

My cat has recently started having an issue where she is leaving box with a small amount of poop on her fur. I try and clean as quick as I can but I wondering if there is something I can do to help reduce this from happening.

Could this be because of a litter box problem ? I scoop every day and add litter as needed and do a full change every 3-4 weeks.

How old is your kitty? Is she overweight or does she have other health issues that would prevent her from completely cleaning herself properly?

If she has not had a vet check lately, it cannot hurt to take her in to make sure everything is physically okay before starting on other reasons and solutions why....

Could you answer Tambrey's questions please? That helps us help you rule out potential health issues. What are you feeding her?

Also, please keep your posts in one thread.

Sorry

She is 3 years old her belly is a little round but she isn't huge and she has no health issues that I know of. She was at the vets office earlier this month for a routine check up and had no issues.

First, you need to thoroughly clean the litterbox ONCE a week, not every 3-4 weeks. Cleaning means removing the litter and waste, washing with soap and hot water, rinsing well, drying.

If she's overweight in the least, you and your vet need to address that immediately. You said she "has a round belly but isn't huge", but what does that mean? If she is overweight, the soonest this is addressed by your vet, the better for her health and prevention of serious health problems.

Cat Chow isn't the highest quality food, please get her on something better quality, such as Iams, Science Diet, or Eukanuba, etc.
