Hi!
I just got a 9week old ragdoll kitten 2 days ago.Its back legs are twisted a little, but gets around fine. She said she took it to the vet and they can find no reason for it.It tries to walk on its whole foot instead of toes in the back. The lady who had it used newspaper in her litterboxes-I had never heard of this before.Right before I picked it up it was fed a can of soft food-yuck,the mess from loose bowels. We are about to clear that up[but sure could use some help on hurrying the process].,but it was so loose that it did not use litter box.I have had it for two days and I am not sure it is using the box.I put some newspaper cut up in a little box[I am keeping the kitten in a large wire crate for the time being-I want to make sure it is using the litter box okay.]I have never had trouble before.Alot of cats have went thru my homeand they all took to litter box okay. How do I get this kitten to use the box,and get it changed from paper to litter?Any information you can give me would be very helpful. Thanks for your help.

Re: help with new kitten.....
Please get your kitten to a NEW vet immediately for a proper exam, fecal exam and other necessary procedures. It is unacceptable that the lady you adopted her from never gave you vet records, or told you anything else for that matter.
Don't know for sure if it was the canned food that caused the diarrhea, so you need to rule out possible worms or coccidia, etc. which your vet can test if you take in a small fecal sample.
The twisted rear legs could be a congenital defect, or it could be something else entirely that must be diagnosed in order to successfully treat. If a nutritional deficiency, for example, this can be corrected. If a bone deformity, surgery later on when kitten is in good health and has developed more, may be appropriate. Please find a more experienced vet and get kitten seen IMMEDIATELY. If she's suffering from dehydration from the loose stool or diarrhea, she needs veterinary care pronto.
Don't worry about the litterbox and newspaper at this point. Your focus should be on a new vet exam first.
