Re: Kitten with NO tail
You need to get this kitten to the vet asap. Please call for an appt tomorrow morning to be seen right away. Tell them that you rescued the kitten you dont know how old it is and that it isnt pooping right. That shoudl get them to see you sooner. Be nice to the receptionist and try to plead with her (that surely can't hurt)
If you can not afford to take kitty to vet, then I would highly suggest you rethink having a kitten as they will needs vaccines and blood work done, food and litter. Thank you for saving this kitten, this is a big responsibility.
What is the kitten eating?
Is the kitten drinking water?
If you pick up the fur on the back of its neck does it stay there or fall down?
You can take a cotton ball and try to stimulate the kitten to poop, that will help enough till you can get her/him seen by vet tomorrow.
Oh and thank you to your adult cat for knowing that things needs to be tended to
This kitten might be younger than you think. I can not say if there is anything wrong with kitten but yOU need to get him/her to vet for a full evaluation. Without seeing kitten I can not say if it is due to being so young or a blockage. Please don't wait this out call first thing and find out when they can see you. Also, the receptionist can not diagnose nor can the vet over the phone so please make sure they get you in to see them. You can call a few different places and see who will see you sooner. Don't forget to ask if they take,check/cc or cash. You can also ask how much the initial visit will cost. THere will be other charges but I am sure just knowing the initial visit willhelpyou decide how much money and what kind of money to bring(like cc or check)
good luck and please let us know how baby is doing. Don't forget to give the adult Plenty of love and praise for his/her heroism in taking this little one under their wing. What a Kodak moment I am sure!

Re: Kitten with NO tail
Get kitten to your vet please, at once. The absence of the tail could be due to injury or congenital defect, or breed problem. Either way, your vet needs to examine the kitten so he can determine the specific condition in which to aid proper elimination. Breed problems (i.e., manx), or congenital defects may require specific diagnostics (xray at least), surgery to correct the problem, or more care to address the elimination problem via surgery and/or specific nutritional needs, etc. Don't wait on this, the vet needs to determine the specific problem in which to treat most effectively and you can't let a young kitten this young go without proper care to ensure proper elimination.

Re: Kitten with NO tail
The Kitten now named Rusty. Is doing well now. I belive it was her diet. She now eates Imes for kittens. She has not had a problem for over 24 hr. The knots in her tummy are gone now.The tail was never there as there is no scaring/wounds. She doesn't even have a single digit of a tail. I will be taking her to the vet on Sat.. I work long hours 5am/7pm and unable to do so before then. She is well hydrated, and has a great appatite. Very active. Gums pink. Grooms herself and Gateway. No fleas.
Gateway will be going to the vet also, as she has started throwing up. Belive it to be hair balls from the extra groming of the kitten, but I will be safe. Gateway is a very special Old Cat. She has never tolerated ANY other animal and very few people. Untill Rusty.
Thanks all for the help. I was so worried for her. She is going to be fine now.

Re: Kitten with NO tail
ceeja, why oh why would you bring any animal into your home without a vet seeing it first when you have other animals there first?. I am sorry but you have no idea if that kitten has some disease or worms and working long hours with a kitten in the home is really not great for the kitten. Please see the vet asap. this shoudl have been done within 24 hours of taking kitten.
