Hi Too All
I am having a big problem with my kitty Sully. He is almost a year old and from day one he has always peed somewhere in my house. I thought that I had the problem under control, but I was wrong. We got him fixed almost a week ago thinking that it would help with the problem. But it didn't. He has peed in my laundry baskets and now all over our shoes. He still uses his litter box, but every now and then he will just pee where he wants. I clean his box everyday and he does not have a UTI. I have tried retraining him and he has no stress everything is the same as it was when we brought him into the home. Is this hopeless? I am at my end, and so is the rest of the family. I love this little guy so much but we are getting tired of coming home to pee all the time. Please what can I do?
thanx for the time

Are you sure he doesn't have a uti? Sometimes crystals form and cause this behavior and peeing out of his litter box is the only way he can get your attention.
Speaking of litterbox how is his litter pan? Does he have more than one? Are they clean? Are you sure they are clean? Is his food and water near it? if so move it away, cat's don't like to pee where they eat. Is it in a private enough place with an escape route nearby? If he has one litter pan, give him a second one. Is the litter to perfumed? Is it deep enough? is the box covered? Uncover it-
Any changes in his environment lately? New person in the house? new pet? new anything?
usually when a cat is peeing on familiar objects it is stress related. Even if you don't think there is stress around, there is and it is up to you to find it.

Hi Ma,
Thanx for responding so fast. As of last week he didn't have a UTI. Do you think I should get him rechecked by the vet? He has one litter box, that is uncovered and cleaned every morning and then at the end of the week I dump all the litter and wash the pan out so that it is clean, putting fresh littler in it. I keep it about 6-8 cm full of litter. Is that enough or too much? As for the stress we have a dog and another cat who lives outside, but they have been here since we brought Sully into our home. I am home all day and he is never by himself unless we go out for an evening. I just returned home from a trip about two weeks ago, but he did not show any sings of being stressed. My husband was home the entire time that I was gone. We recently had my Dad stay with us for three days but that was a week ago and everything is back to the same old same old. We just had him fixed a week ago and the peeing seem to have stoped after being fixed, yet one week later I found a spot on my boot rack where we keep our shoes. He has done this since we brought him home he is great for a week or two then just out of the blue I find a spot. I am worried and totalyy confused. This is my first cat and my husband said he didn't have any of these kinds of problems with our other cat Sammy. So I am looking for some good advice. So good or bad I need some help.

Re: My !!month old kitty is peeing in my laundry baskets.
FWIW, many cats will mark on their human's clothing if left around for them to do so. Bathrooms, hampers left open, and laundry baskets are prime targets for any cat. Shoes are another, if they don't like the scent on them, or even if they find the scent particularly attractive, it is inviting to them to mark them as territory.
Yes, do make an appointment with your vet for a recheck. Get a urinalysis, but also a complete exam on the offchance an unrelated condition is surfacing, that is causing him stress.

Hi To All
Well I got my Sully into the vet today and he does indeed have a UTI. The vet found blood and protien but no crystals. So he is now on medication. So I hope this works. We are also trying some of the other suggestions, like another litter box and so on. Thank You all so much for caring enough to respond to my message. I was was really worried. I will let you all know how my little one is doing. Is there anything that I can do that may help prevent UTI infections (This is his second infection). Thanx again
