I was wondering...is it ok to feed your cat, food that you eat? Because, once at the dinner table, we were eating hot dogs, and I threw her a little piece. She LOVED it...and the next day, she followed me when we had dinner, and so I gave her chicken. I gave her like 4 or 5 small pieces..This is ok, right? I dont know if this has anything to do with it, but this morning, I found this yellowish-thick liquid on the stairs, and near her litter box? Could that be from the food I gave her? please advise!!

Any time you introduce a food that a cat is not used to, it can make them sick a bit, cause tummy problems or the runs. if you are going to feed human food to your cats, your best bet is to limit what they get and mix it with their regular food.
My cats get boiled chicken, green beans and carrots- all cooked and minced and mixed with their dry food (small amounts at a time) They also get shredded cheese, not a lot, about 1/2 tsp once a month. I feed Royal Canin Outdoor Blend dry and they get canned cat food twice a day. I choose to mix the human food with my dry because in giving our cats dry food, we cut out a lot of their natural moisture and this mixture brings some of the moisture back to them.
I also no longer free feed, except for the ferals outside. There is always dry available at the feeder platforms.

I'd be careful feeding them what's off your plate or table. Most of the time, human food is prepared with many ingredients and you need to watch out for hidden ones, like onion or garlic or anything else that a cat is not supposed to have. Occasionally my cats will share a bland scrambled egg with me or have a hint of a taste of tuna while I'm preparing it for myself (I can't avoid that one without risking my life )
I think moderation is the key unless you are learning about making your own food. As the others said, too much at one can cause the runs, and becaureful of spices and extras the kitty doesn't need.
