Hello:
I have a 2 year old Manx cat named Nova. Every few weeks, it seems her right eye gets swollen and irritated. She is constantly 'winking'and tearing(not enough to wet the fur around her eye, but enough to make it look glassy). At first I thought that this may be an allergy of some sort, because it happens most often in the summer, but today her eye is swollen worse than ever before, and it has me worried.
Is this something I need to be worried about, and is there anything I can do to help her (it obviously bothers her).
Thanks from me and Nova!
Steve
Cat's eye is swollen.....
Re: Cat's eye is swollen.....
Steve, you can try flushing it with a syringe and water if you want (use cool or room temp, not cold)....just hold a syringe or eyedropper with water in it and drop a few drops in the outer corner of her eye, let her rest a moment and flush again. If after a half hour and she doesn't seem affected or if it's worse, better get her seen.
She could have a scratch that you won't see unless a stain is done by your vet (simple, quick procedure), or even a tiny foreign body. Good time to get a full optic exam, it only takes a few moments during a regular exam...
