Cat urinating on my son's bed
Cat urinating on my son's bed
I have had Amy for a year and there's never been any behavioral problems with her. My other cat, Gary (from Spongebob lol), has not liked her from the beginning. They have their occasional spat but they also play together sometimes too. We keep their 2 litterboxes in the basement and they have always used them without incident. My husband noticed recently that Gary (who is twice her size) has been guarding the litterboxes and tries to attack Amy when she wants to use the bathroom. My son noticed yesterday that their was a horrible smelling wet spot on his sheet. We couldn't figure out what it might be because it has never happened before with any cat in my life. Tonight he actually caught her on his bed peeing! I know that Gary has to be the reason for this. So now I don't have a clue as to what to do. If she now has a taste for going outside the box, is there anything I can do to stop this and make her not be afraid to use the litterboxes again? What do I do about Gary guarding them?
Re: Cat urinating on my son's bed
the easiest thing to try first would be to have separate litterboxes in separate areas, and at least one on each level of the house anyways so they do not need to run to the basement when they need to go if they are elsewhere in the house...
You should also get her checked for a urinary infection as well...
let us know how things go...

Agree with Tambrey, provide another litterbox in another area.
Please think back and try to determine if there has been any recent changes in the environment, as Gary may be reacting to a stressful situation, thereby intimidating Amy. Do you spend quality time with both of them on a daily basis?
Both cats should be checked by your vet to rule out urinary tract infections or other health problems, promptly.
