Need help!
I hope someone can help...I have a 2 yr old cat. She is really great. But, her adopted "mom" died. Stormy was 15. The 2 year old adored her and likewise to the older cat. They always cuddled, never fought. Well I recently decided to get a new playmate for my kitty. The new cat is 1 and I thought they could be good playmates... but she hates him! I'm not sure if it is because he is a boy, he's not Stormy, or he's simply on her turf. He is fine, he just looks at her or meows when she is mean, hisses or even paws at him (neither have claws) I don't know how to get her to get to know him. She won't give him a chance. She just chases him out of rooms and hisses when he is around. This morning the poor guy was so annoyed with her he hid in the litter box. I know some cats never get along, but is there any kind of training I can do to try to help the matter?

It's best that cats are introduced slowly over time, not just put together when you bring a new one home. In addition to the stress of it coming into a new home the resident cat is under stress by having a strange cat brought into it's territory. There is a good thread in the Feline Health board on the subject that should cover everything you need to know:

Good luck! Don't give up...seperate them know and work on reintroducing them
