hi guys!!!!!!!!
hey there guys, it has been a long time since i have been on here but i am sure you remember me from about april of last year!! if not you can get refreshed by some of my post just search my name!!! anyways peaches is doing GREAT!! she is so big and beautiful but has such an attitude!! she thinks that she has complete run of the house which she does cause i just think of her like my baby!! anyways i have a new question, i have 2 strays in my backyard!!! one is a male cat that my neighbor whom i HATE now just decided to throw out one day and he is so beautiful, i would love to take him in but hubby won't allow it!! i have called the humane society and they won't take him! so i have put boxes out there for him, i feed him 2 times a day and he gets as much love and attention as i can give him!! the other cat is a female and she is pregnant!! i know that the male cat isn't the father cause he is fixed but she just came to my back door about a week and a half ago! i am unsure of how preggers she is but i know she is!! so my question is what should i do?? i have another box out there for her with blankets as well and i feed her 2 or 3 times daily cause i know she needs the nutrients, but i just feel so horrible that i can't take her in! i want to do whatever i can for her, and i am doing just that but what else should i do?? how long are cats preggers?? any and all help would be appreciated!!!!!

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Gestation is 63 days, give or take a few days. The only way to determine how far along she is is through an examination by a vet.
Call your vet and ask if he has resources for rescue organizations, a Petsmart nearby who does adoptions, or other foster people who may be able to help. The mother and her unborn are at risk of the outdoor elements and other outdoor dangers..if you or someone could get her examined by a vet, and depending on how far into term she is, she may be able to be safely spayed. Both cats ideally should be examined, tested for FELV/FIV.
Have you tried talking to your neighbor to find out why he has kitty outside? Perhaps he is simply ignorant and doesn't realize the outdoor dangers for cats.

they didn't want the cat anymore, i just found out that they just decided to throw it out!!! i have called animal cruelty but they won't do anything about it, so i guess it is ok for things like this to happen!!! i will probably take the cat to the vet to get her tested and get check, i know she is probably to far along to get spayde, she is pretty big!! are there any risks of me petting the cats outside and possibly bringing it in to my kitty???

Please do not "bump" posts, posts are read and responded to, daily.
There is always a potential risk when handling strays, since you don't know their health histrories or if they have ever been vaccinated. If your own cat(s) has never been vaccinated, the risk is also increased. If you handle strays, promptly wash your hands with antibacterial soap, change your clothes and shoes upon entering your home.

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
ok so i have taken the stray to the vet, she is healthy and is expecting but they aren't sure how soon! now here is my dilema, my husband will not let me take this cat into our home, he is not a big cat person even though I LOVE THEM! i have got a huge cage outside that i have a bunch of warm blankets and big plastic box in it with blankets, food and water in this cage with something over top it to keep it dry! now here is my thing i have tried to take her to a shelter and they told me they would abort the babies and probably have her put down after a few days of being there! i have tried to give her to someone more capable to take care of her but can't find anyone! i know that i can find people to give the kittens to, i have already had 3 people tell me they want one (depending on size of litter) but i feel helpless! i check on her at least every 2 or 3 hours and she is always on my back porch, she just looks so uncomfortable and i can't quite tell how far along she is, her nipples are dropped but they are white and the babies are moving a lot! she has had a huge change in her attitude too, she bites and scratches me whenever i touch her tummy! not only that but other cats are coming up to my back porch and of course she is very territorial! i just feel helpless and horrible, need some advise on what to do with her, she is a feral cat but i want to get this kittens good homes and then have her fixed even if she does go back outside!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
Like Traci said, try to find a Petsmart in your area (or Petco or other similar pet suppy store). Petsmart works with local rescues to adopt out cats. They most likely will not take the cat themselves (the Petsmart I worked for did not) but they can and will give you phone numbers of local rescue organizations that can take the cat.
Otherwise, you can talk to veterinarians in the area that know of rescue groups or that might be able to take the cat themselves.
Here is a link to a list of 48 Petsmart stores in Florida. Hopefully one of them is near you:

They all hold pet adoptions, so they should all have phone numbers to local rescue organizations. Please take good care of the kitties since they have no one else but you to count on! Good luck!

Here's another link---this one is also from the Petsmart website with a list of local animal rescue organizations in Florida. Maybe you can find them in the phone book or do a Google search:

Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
I'm confused...I just counted days, and this is day 69 from your first post. How in heavens name would you have known she was pregnant back in January?
Re: hi guys!!!!!!!!
I'm with Marty, you stated in January she was pregnant, yet it is now April. Doesn't add up. Also, your vet should have known how far along she was. Depending on when exactly you took her to the vet, had it been directly after you posted here in January, she could have been safely spayed and your vet should have made that suggestion to you! Was an x-ray or ultrasound done to determine her pregnancy for sure, and/or the number of kittens?
