Static Guard Spray?

Post by gsc4 »

Is Static Guard spray harmful to cats?

This dry winter has given Squirrel a bad case of electric fur. I pet her and get Crackle Crackle Crackle so she has started moving away when I try to pet her.

Static Guard sprayed on my brush before I brush my hair works great for me. But I don't groom my hair by licking it. I would like to try the same thing before brushing Squirrel but worry if she ingests a small amount during grooming.

Nothing on the can says it is harmful to pets. Or people. Just to avoid spraying it in the eyes. It says it contains Dimethly Ditallow Ammonium Chloride.

Don't use any aeorosols on cats, since you don't know what "proprietary ingredients" may be in the product.

Try using a humidifier in your home to help with dry air. And when approaching kitty, don't drag your feet across carpet first, as this will cause static electricity.

Mist the air with a bottle of water. This will increase the humidity in that area, and some will fall on the carpet. Temporary humidity. Then there will be less static formed.
