After Shots..behavior?
After Shots..behavior?
I took my cat to the vet yesterday for a check-up and shots. This morning, she didn't come running when I put the food down. I found her sleeping on the couch..I went to her and she seemed fine. I petted her and she purred, licked my hand. All things she normally does. Is it ok that she is a little out of it after the 2 shots? When we came home from the vet, she ate and played as usual. She was very very nervous at the vet, very shaky, so maybe it all just caught up to her?
Re: After Shots..behavior?
Yes, they will usually be a bit sore and maybe lethargic and yucky feeling after shots...however, if she is still not bouncing back by tomorrow, I would get her in to make sure she is not having a reaction...and of course, if she gets worse, get her in right away...

What vaccines were given, and where on the body were they given?
Try not to handle her too much in the next day or so, if a rabies vaccine, for example, was given intramuscularly, the hip/rear leg may be painful.
Slight soreness, resting and reluctance to be held would be normal after vaccinations, however, if any of the following occur, get her back to your vet immediately: complete anorexia, fever, lethargy, vomiting, hiding/withdrawal, dilated pupils, disorientation, any of which could indicate a serious reaction to a vaccine. Your kitty should be feeling well enough to be eating normally by tonight, and otherwise acting normally, but if she isn't, notify your vet immediately.
