cat litter box
my cat's litter box is attracting small flies, how do i prevent this?
Re: cat litter box
Um, clean it??
If you're serious, where is it located? Is it kept scooped on a daily basis? Do you regularly clean it with soap and water?

Re: cat litter box
yea i scoop it every day, wash it every so often, add new litter every day... etc... its out in the garage...
Re: cat litter box
Garages are not a clean and sterile environment, and usually attract heat and moisture, so if the litterbox is in the garage, you're going to always attract flies, bugs, etc. Garages are also not safe for pets, since one usually has chemicals, paints, solvents, gasoline, and many other dangers.
Washing the litterbox "every so often" isn't enough. It needs to be scooped daily, and washed with soap and water at least once a week.
If you happen to allow your cat(s) outdoors, acclimate them strictly Indoors ONLY, and keep the litterbox inside for sanitary reasons for the cat.
