Red spots w/ no fur. . Over grooming or ringworm?!
Red spots w/ no fur. . Over grooming or ringworm?!
My cat has these red spots that are missing fur. . . .all u see is his pink skin. . .there is no blood or pus or anything! just a little red spot. . . he gets them like every other month. I heard it could be ring worm and i heard it might be over grooming from stress, but if it's over grooming from stress I'm confused beacuse I'm sure he doesn't undergo much stress in our home! plez help!!
If it looks similar to a 'bullseye' in appearance (white or pink/red skin surrounded by a dark circle), the chances of ringworm are high. But, this could be nearly anything else as well, i.e., flea bite allergy, food allergy, environmental allergy, mites, or other type of skin or fungal disease. Simple testing at your vet's will define it. Don't wait on this please, get your kitty seen ASAP.

if its ring worm and you don't see the vet soon you will
for sure , be seeing your dermatologist sooner.....

please do see the vet
The only way to be sure is to go to the vet. Your kitty will thank you, and if it IS ringworm, you'll be thankful you didn't have to catch it in order to identify it.....
The medicine to treat it is quite cheap. Please go right away.

Please keep me posted on this as my Vester......
is having similar problems. We are in the middle of doing tests on him to find out what it is. You can look at my thead titles, Vest got his skin scraping today. The tests have been really easy so far. But all negative. I am awaiting a culture right now.
Sara and her 6 kitties. Clover , Saharan, Mona, Negrito, Nando and Silvestre (Vest/The Vest).
Me, too. Grace has scratched her ears the entire time she's been in my house. Not earmites, and skin scraping didn't turn up anything, either. The vet gave me Otomax for her ears.
Because Alex the kitten was so sick for awhile, I have not even opened the bottle yet. Now, I'm seeing the same bare pink spots on her neck that you're describing, AND I have a spot on my lower leg that looks a *lot* like ringworm. I've got a doctor appt today for a general check up and am going to have him look at it. I'm using an over the counter anti-fungal cream for my leg.
I'll call the vet today, but my question is, if this is ringworm on Grace's neck, is the Otomax the best treatment?
