?'s about drinking more
?'s about drinking more
My ex got a new puppy and his kitty is very put out! He made a way so he has access to two rooms all by himself, dog not allowed in there and has a latice like gate so they can see each other and get to know each other safely kitty seems to be Ok with this but ex has noticed kitty has been drinking more water than before and not eating as much is this reason to be concerned?
Re: ?'s about drinking more
if the drinking is really in excess it might be good to get a urinalysis, it could just be anxiety but there is no way of being able to tell qanxiety from infection by symptons and appearances...

Yes...anytime a cat stops eating or is eating less is time to be concerned (as you saw in my post about Willow). It doesn't take long for them to develop hepatic lipidosis. I'm sure the kitty is probably stressed with the new puppy and all. Your ex needs to make sure that the kitty gets plenty of attention and love. Have him look for any signs of lethargy, yellowing gums or nose...any signs of vomiting. If any of those show up he should take the kitty to the vet ASAP. In the mean time he needs to do whatever he can to get the kitty to eat...a bit of tuna, some boiled chicken....whatever food the kitty will eat (even the dreaded Fancy FEast!!)...I wish him the best...I hope it works out.

I would get it checked out by a vet. My cat was like that where she would just drink tons and tons of water, but would barely touch her food. We brought her to the vet and her numbers were very high. Turns out she had kidney failure. I would get it checked.
