Urinating on my bed!
Urinating on my bed!
Everyonce in a while my cat, Velvet...would urinate in the dirty clothes pile..I would tap her nose and tell her bad and it was no big deal. Recently we had a new roomate move in who brought her dog. Since then Velvet has been urinating on my bed. Could this me getting even with me for letting a dog in the house? I've read that sometimes when cats urinate in other places besides the litter box they could have a bladder infection..so I plan on taking her to the vet soon...but could is be just that she is mad at me? And if so...is there anything I can do to make her stop?
Re: Urinating on my bed!
oi kinda think this is psychological, like i'll get even but impossible to tell...get a urinalysis first to eliminate cystitis then take it from there
Re: Urinating on my bed!
My cat, Tigger...since passed on...had it out for my former step-son and former husband...
Tigger would be good, except when "J" was over for a weekend visit, then he would go bathroom in "J's" room if he left the door open, and even if he closed the door, Tigger would leave a present outside the door! He always used the litter box when "J" was not here!
Years later, as my marriage started to deteriorate, and my former husband became abusive, we had to keep our bedroom door closed. Hoever, one day/night, the door was not closed and "M" went up to go to bed. I heard a bellering scream and ran up the stairs, only to stand in the doorway and laugh hysterically, as much as ther situation really was not so funny...
Tigger had pooped on "M's" side of the bed, the pushed the sheets back up over it...when "M" turned out the lights, pulled back the sheets, and sat on the bed, he sat in the present...and since he slept in the buff, he had this...ummm....mess, stuck to his rear end...
I know I should not have laughed, but it was just a funny sight, and I guess tension was so bad lately, it was just...funny....
After "M" moved out, Tigger was fine and used the litter box after that. Even when I remarried and he moved in, Tigger was good about using the litter box.
It could just be a jealousy thing that your cat is going through, but rule out any medical problems first...then determine the next step from there...
Good luck, and through it all, keep a sense of humor and try to do the best and get your cat to do the proper thing....give her extra attention, treats...whatever it takes to let her know she is still the queen of the house!

Re: Urinating on my bed!
do get it checked by a vet, but it very well could be from stress of the new arrival. check the Feline Introductions post at the top of this forum, it works for mixed animal environments assuming one of them is a cat.Wynter wrote:Everyonce in a while my cat, Velvet...would urinate in the dirty clothes pile..I would tap her nose and tell her bad and it was no big deal. tapping on the nose or similar reponsed is not a good idea for a few reasons, one of them is it will cause addition stress complicating the real issue. cats tend to be very good with litter box usage assuming you provide them with litter they like in locations they prefer.
i find a wet spot every once in a while on my bed and i can always find something that caused some stress right before (like a neighbor pet or wild animal roaming into my backyard).
