kitten eye problem

Post by RMB »

I've got a litter of 4 kittens that are about 3 weeks old. All of them excrete a kind of mucous from their eyes (some more than others), and the stuff gets crusty after a while. Their mother doesn't like to clean the gunk off, so I gently clean the kitten's eyes with a soft, slightly dampened washcloth once or twice a day, but the mucous keeps coming back. Am I doing something wrong? Do they have an eye infection? Do they need to see a vet? Please help.

they do need to see a vet because the gunky eyes are symptons of some other problem, not necesseraily the eyes,,,could be feling distemper...get them checked because you r cleaning of the eys is just hiding one sympton...
