I was wondering how long a cat goes into heat after having a litter of kittens. I have noticed a stray where we feed ferals that just appeared and I wanted to take her in and have her spayed and find her a home. The next time I saw her, she looked thinner, like she had already had her kittens and I decided not to try to catch her since I thought she had babies somewhere. Well yesterday when I went to feed her, she was rolling around like she was in heat and there were tom cats near her.
She acted just like she was in heat. If she had kittens in the last couple of weeks would she already be in heat again? Or if she maybe miscarried them would she be in heat this soon?
How long before a cat goes into heat again after birth?

From my own experience with Dolly, yes definitely! Hers will be 8 weeks old Friday, and last week was in heat. When I talked to vet about spaying he wanted to wait until kittens weaned but warned me she could go into heat at any time. Good luck, Wanda

I'm just sort of confused by this, it couldnt have been no more than a week and a half since she had possibly had her kittens. I want to help her but I dont know when to try to catch her.

cats are like seals, they can gointo heat while nursing so never trust them
