help my cat's eating my wood table!!!!

I have a cat that I found as a stray about 9 months ago. He's older and declawed and fixed. He has been a wonderful addition to pur family but he naws on my wood coffee table. He has had some trouble with throwing up food on occasion but does anyone know if him chewing the wood will hurt him or cause him to vomit?

Please get him to your vet for a thorough exam, and potential bloodwork...ask your vet about pica, a condition that may result from a dietary deficiency, or stress (or boredom). If he chews on your table excessively, he could get tiny shards of wood caught in his mouth or throat/esophagus/stomach....wouldn't be good. Try to discourage him from doing that by diverting his attention elsewhere, like toys, attention, playtime, etc.
