How long would it take for atrophied muscles to build up?

Post by Shadowfein »

My cat is finally gaining use of her rear legs and she is really trying hard to stand up and walk but her muscles are just not strong enough. I do physio with her everyday which is essentially tensing and flexing her legs and I am going to get her a sling. But generally how long should it take for her strength to come back? Is 4 - 6 months too optimistic?

Thanks

just a humble opinion but i would not rush into a sling because lots of times the animal will get so used to them thet they forget thier original intention of walking...but you can be the best judge o that..there are no rules as to how long recovery will take...one good therapy besides rubbing and toe pinching is a warm bath tube with water deep enought the theycannot stand..ie the old swimming routine.....
