Hello...I am new to these boards...so here goes:
I just adopted a 2yr old Manx/Ragdoll cross named Merlyn. He's 2 years old and absolutly adorable! He's also really sweet...but he seems really scared and spends most of his time hiding behind or under anything he can get to! How long before he will feel more comfortable in his new home? Is this skittish reaction normal? Any opinions would be great!! Thanks alot everyone.

Re: New kitty in the home...HELP!
quite typical for cats to seem unsettled for a bit in a new home.
does he seem to prefer one room (like a bedroom) over the others? might want to keep a second litter box and water bowl in whichever room that is to make him feel more "king of the castle" for a while.
has Merlyn been to a vet for full checkup/shots/etc? are his eating and litter box habits appearing normal (eating/drinking regularly and expelling without problems)?
just be sure to make a daily effort to spend quality time (that is, what he defines as quality time...each cat is different) with him and be patient....everything is new to him, everything.

Thank you very much for your reply, Jason.
Yes, Merlyn has had all his shots and seems to have regular ating and expelling habits. He's healthy, so I guess I will just have to wait until he feels comfortable in his new home. In the mean time I will just give him lots of love and give him his space.

try to lure him out with toys... mice, bells, laser pens. he just might find them irresistable. if you could interact with him even a little at a time, you could progress from there! good luck
