Traci, Took Josie to a new vet today. And you'll never believe it, but he actually seemed to care and know what he was talking about! It was awesome! Right off the bat, he did a fecal exam to see what kind of worms she had and guess what . . . NO WORMS! so those 2 later treatments were probably for NADA!

Anyway, he did a complete physical exam (not sure she ever had one before), did a flotation fecal exam, but it came out negative. I'm going to take in stool samples, I think up to 6, so he can do tests to rule out different things. He seems to think it's a parasite in her large intestines. He went ahead and started her on Metronidazole. He also started her on a new diet, Purina Pro Plan, and gave us some moist food that is supposed to be good for intestinal problems.

I'm so glad that I got a 2nd opinion!

Good news . . . we still have a few more fecal tests to go, but I think that Josie's problems have been solved with her new diet and meds to treat for a parasite. She's shown no signs of blood in her feces since thursday!!! She's finally gaining some weight and her coat is shiny and healthier. And i know this may sound wierd, but she's not as wild! She was so mean before, with the biting and scratching . . . she must have either been trying to tell us she was sick (which we knew), or that she was HUNGRY! I never imagined that she wasn't getting anything out of her Kitten Chow. Now after she eats, you can just tell that she's full. Such a difference!
