Hello everyone. I am new here and I have 3 cats and one dog.
One of my cats has been urinating on my couch for so long now. someone told me at one point to get her spayed and that would stop it. Well it helped but she still does it from time to time. I also thought maybe she didn't like when the litter box was full during the day so since I have 3 cats I got anohter litter box. That also seemed to help some. I purchased Petzyme to spray on the couch but that did nt work one bit. I do not want to purchase every product there is on the market and still not find a good one. Plus my couch is leather and I am really afraid to test some products on it. I am not sure what else to do. I do not want to get rid of her but I am afraid her habits will make the new kitten begin doing the same.

Re: I am new here
Many of us use Nature's Miracle or Simple Green to neutralize/clean surfaces that have been sprayed.
Two things come to mind about the behavior...one, stress, could she possibly be intimidated by any of the other cats?...two, the addition of a new kitten, this can of course induce behavioral changes for any cat especially if there are prolonged problems with introductions or acceptance.
Have you had her fully evaluated by your vet to rule out underlying health conditions....for example, a urinary tract infection or consistent UTI's are often the number one cause of behavioral changes or spraying/litterbox aversions.

Re: I am new here
My cat was spraying before the kitten came in. She was the first cat here in the house and did not particularly like the new additions.
But I wish I could say that is when I noticed the change but that's still not the case. I guess the vet I go to did not fully evaluate her. Maybe I should take her somewhere else???
