Cats hissing and growling

Post by mklatt »

I have two beutiful male cats who have lived together happily for three years. On Friday, I took my siamese to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. When I brought him home Friday afternoon, my other cat started hiss and growling. It has become worse since then. Now my siamese hisses and growls at everyone and everything. He has spent the last two days under the bed. I called my vet and they said that happens because of the smell from the vets but offered me no real help on what to do. They were both such loving sweet cats, now all they do is hiss and growl.

This is common behavior amoung cats when one of them has been to the vet's...the other can smell strange scents and they react to it.

Be patient and try to ignore the behavior, don't intervene unless necessary to break apart a fight....they will get over it naturally and at their own convenience. You can try involving them together in playtime, grooming, treat-giving, etc to help them re-aquaint themselves.

Otherwise, please see the other posts in this forum (those recently posted by Susan and the girls), for tips on temp seperation if necessary.
