Always sleeping/hiding in litterbox
Always sleeping/hiding in litterbox
My cat (1yr, 3 months old), recently had an URI & the vet gave her antibiotics but, her behaviour has remained the same. She is always sleeping/sitting/hiding in her litter. She is jumpy, anxious & timid (which is not like her). Any ideas?suggestions? we have tried everything.
Re: Always sleeping/hiding in litterbox
When was she seen/diagnosed?
Given the nature of the litterbox behavior, are you sure you didn't mean UTI (urinary tract infection)? If so, call your vet and ask for a recheck and include another urinalysis.
If you truly meant URI (upper respiratory infection), the behavior you described is not indicative of a URI or reaction to antibiotics, it sounds like something else is amiss. If your vet is not addressing this seriously, it's time to see a new vet, and promptly.

Re: Always sleeping/hiding in litterbox
Is she eating, drinking and walking without difficulty ouside the litterbox occasionally?
Sounds like a possible stress related thing she has going on, caused either by her UTI or URI giving her discomfort or something that may be going on in your household. Please try to think of anything that may be causing her stress such as other pets, children, noise, etc. Here is a link that is interesting

I would have her rechecked by your vet for an ongoing and/or new condition. I hope she has nothing serious going on. Please keep us posted, ok?
