Male cat chewing paper

I have a question and was wondering if anyone could help. My male cat seems to have a habit of ripping paper and biting it to shreds. He has gotten better with not doing it as I have been catching him and shooing him away, but I was wondering why he is doing it? Frustration or just playfullness?

LOL, because it's so much fun, of course! My cats do that all the time; they especially love important papers (including bills), tissue paper, paper bags, cardboard boxes... I'd say just keep important papers away from him as much as you can (it's hard, I know), and provide him with a paper bag or something that he's allowed to shred up periodically.

Tina, this is too funny! My cat constantly licks plastic bags! Every time I go to the grocery store, my girl will come booking in the kitchen regardless of the room she was in and start licking the bags .

I was talking to a woman whom I work with and she told me that there is actually a substance in the bags that attracts the cats. She said it is a type of food, but I can't remember what type it was!

As far as the paper bags, I had a cat, Tiffany, who would get into my cabinets and tear into her cat food. She would have a heaping bowl full, but she loved to eat paper. Paper bags, paper, boxes, you name it, she would tear it up with her teeth!

Gotta love these little furbabies.

might want to try keeping these items put away, yeah...like thats possible....my rocky likes the tp :



one side note about the plastic bags...my java once got her neck wrapped up in the handles and nearly choked herself very badly...getting it off of her while she was screaming and scratching was quite an ordeal for her and me...thought i would pass along the warning.
