food aggression

Post by i_lovecats555 »

I have two 11 week old kittens, one of which is food aggressive. When I go near his face while he is eating, he will swipe and scratch at my hand. How do I render the situation? Is there a website or info about how to stop this. Any help would be great.

With some cats the natural instinct to protect their food sets in stronger than others. I've see some of the kittens I foster do this, but they usually outgrow it. He may feel that he has to compete for his food with his sibling. I'd just recommend feeding him seperate from his sibling and simply don't bother him while he is eating. This might help curb the behavior...

i only read parts of the following link, but it seemed quite good from my scanning.

i would not force contact while he is eating, some cats do want some privacy while feeding...one of mine is like that but voices opposition differently.

i'd give him some space and keep an eye on him.
