Chatter box

Post by Dalynda »

Last weekend I picked up two sick kittens, by the following saturday they both had passed away. My older cat Nitro, has been acting a bit strange. She's begun to chatter. It may be that the kittens has given her something of some sort.

Signs: Her teeth are chattering together usually when she first wakes up from a cat nap or when she comes from another room. She also shows signs of excessive saliva. Not sure what is wrong. Any ideas?

Well I called the vet and made an appointment to see her in a few hours, and I also registered... yay me.

I'll give an update when miss kitty comes home.

You did exactly what I would have advised...if your cat was exposed to these kittens and you don't know what caused them to die a vet visit is very important. I hope all goes well

Well, she had a 103 degree temp, she was running a fever and she also had a intestinal virus, which the kittens probably had given to her, since it was highly contageous.

With the exception of the funds, she'll be fine in a few days. They gave me two liquid medications for her, one antibotic for the fever and the other for the intestinal virus. So.... she'll be up and about soon.

Also I found out the reason why she was chattering. From the virus it is likely to see ulcers on the tongue. It was irritating her so she'd chatter. :) Good stuff to know if it happens again.

Thank you Tina for the advice. :)

glad to here she was seen...I hope she is feeling better soon. Not a bad idea when you bring kittens into the house to isolate them until they can be checked by your vet...especially strays...you never know what they might be carrying.
