*sigh....
Just when you think it's safe to go back in the water....
You hear a
MOAOAOAOOAOAAAAAA
rrrrrmmmmOAOOAOAAA
rrrrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrr
rrrrrrrrr
Last night I heard the first one. Loud and clear. And i thought.... "Oh No... Here we go..."
And so i went to see, what all the fuss was about and I found Mythie, sprawled all over the floor making a strange purring/chirping sound and doing 'the dance' sideways on the skirting board.
Since then she's been rubbing up against everything and everyone, wriggling around in circles on the carpet, brushing up against all the other cats, making out with the gym shoes, dancing in the kitchen, on the tables, and under all the chairs....
Mercifully she has been surprisingly quiet. She's only yowled once or twice, and the rest of the time she's been making the strange sort of chirping noise almost like a pigeon. In fact the last couple of hours she hasn't made a peep. In fact she's been totally normal. Every once in a while she walks down the corridor and yowls and then starts chirping again...
By contrast, both our other cats went on for hours! Yowling and meowing and rubbing up against everything... Bobbie spent most of her heat on her back with her tummy in the air yowling away...
So is it normal for cats to not meow so much when they are on heat? Or meow only at night just a couple of times? Or is this waht is known as a false heat?
We're in heat!!
Re: We're in heat!!
Yowling and meowing are less or not as common as the rubbig =, rolling over and all the other descriptions you give...I am not sure of the word but its something like onomonotai or such,,,,your descriptions are so descriptive, it seems like your just in the other roomlllland look on the good sides, some cats stay in heat untill they are bred so this goings on could lsast for a while...but i like your descriptions.....
Re: We're in heat!!
Hello yes it sounds like heat to me.
Are you planning of spaying very soon? Remember no spaying increases the chances of uterin infection and frustration on the part of the female.
Honeybun was spayed at 4 months old and Chloe at 8 weeks (by the shelter).

Re: We're in heat!!
We're absolutely planning on spaying her, but seeing as she's been through so much with the abcess and all that, we thought that we'd wait til at least her first heat was over. Maybe even her second, we live in an apartment and there are no male cats anywhere, and both our other darling monsters are spayed too...
We'll be taking her to the vet as soon as he thinks it's okay to get her spayed i guess...
Yeah...
I guess we are in heat afterall....
thanks davet...
