Intro. of new cat into household which already one cat

Post by karensrq@aol.com »

If anyone can assist me, I'd appreciate it. I have had a Maine Coon for almost two years, that I bought as a kitten. I took in a stray that was clearly dumped, as he is affectionate and docile, with goodhousehold manners. I recently had the stray, Ely neutered and declawed, but my Maine Coon attacks him at any chance. He goes straight for Ely's neck. Ely is clearly the beta cat, and is what military people would call a concientous objector---he won't fight. I keep them separated, allowing them minimal time together under my supervision, but it's been two months and I see no sign of progress.

Once again, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd be extremely grateful, as I love Pax, my Coon cat, and have grown to love Ely's gentle nature just as much. The thing is, alone, Pax is a gentle cat with no visible displays of aggression or ill-temperedness. Help, please!

cat introductions thread

2 months of an introduction is likely to take some time to work out (if things were made worse that is). be patient, it takes time. the above link has two other thread links in it (somewhere), read them all.
