Is This Normal after Early Spaying?
Is This Normal after Early Spaying?
I adopted 2 kittens last February at 2 months of age and had them spayed at 3 months. I have noticed that their bellies tend to hang down and their fur where it had been shaved is really fluffy looking. I have always had my cats spayed early and have noticed a little bit of a belly but it is more pronounced with these two. Did I have them spayed too early? They are healthy in every respect so I am not concerned but I have just wanted an "expert" opinion on this! Thanks!

not an expert opinion but i don't think you can spay too early--much controversy about this though...have seen them spayed as earlyas 4 or 5 days but i suspect the fluffy fur is just normal kitten fur growing back in and the belly, i have no idea, it may be from spaying, or if these are liter mates it may just be congenital abdominal sagging, unless there is a hernia which i ams sure you would have noticed....again not an expert opinion just my own ideas....

I had my 5 year spayed at 41/2 months. She was in heat and afterwards she did develope a "pouch" and still has it hanging down. We laugh because she has trouble cleaning and falls over from the extra skin.
My new kitten Chloe was spayed at 8 weeks and has no pouch and looks perfectly normal as though no operation had been done.
Just two examples, but of course be sure there is no hernia or other problem.
