I feed my bella kitten chow (am planning to change foods to iams kitten as soon as bag is gone) and iams kittten formula canned food. the "crunchies" are readily available and i serve the soft food twice or three times a day (it always seems like if i do it three she eats two servings and ignores the third). Today she will not go near the soft food. i put it out for her this morning and she "buried it" immediately (she does this litter box digging motion around her food when she is done or doesn't want it). The second serving i put out about 6 hours later was just plain ignored. She has never completely denied this food before so i'm a bit concerned. She has been snacking on her crunchies throughout the day and ate some kitty treats earlier, so i don't think its her appetite. What do you think would contribute to this sudden aversion? She's been behaving normal for the most part...although i did find her just laying in the sink earlier letting water drip on her (she drinks out of the tap)...but i think she was just playing. She's been doing her play/nap/play/nap cycle like every day. I am planning to keep an eye on her obviously, but i was looking for further suggestion and possible answers. Thanks!
p.s. i did notice that the can the food came out of is dented....could this have anything to do with it?

Re: food issue?
It may be the same brand, but is it a different flavor? Booker will not touch any canned food with Salmon in it. Not at all. Even if the canned food just says fish, if she doesn't eat it, I know it has salmon in it. Also, check the expiration date on the can. Cats can tell if the food isn't fresh or any good and won't eat it. If she's eating her regular crunchies, that's a good sign. But, I'd still keep an eye on her.

same flavor, doesn't expire until 2005. She definately has an appetite, she stole a piece of turky out of my sandwich earlier! lol. I forgot to mention that she is approx. 4 1/2 months old and just lost her two bottom baby teeth a week ago (and the grown up ones are already in place). are those the only she loses or does she lose them all? anyway, i just think its weird that she suddenly wouldn't like the food she's had since i got her.

That's a lot of food for a youngster. If she has free feeding on dry food all day, she probably does not need more than two feedings of canned food. You also don't need to feed her a lot of canned food either. Cats are nibblers and usually they don't like to eat it all in one sitting. The canned food spoils quickly in the air- I only leave mine down for 20 minutes, before I take it back up. I would cut her down to two meals of canned per day and make sure that when you put dry down, you are feeding the cat and not the bowl.
