My little kitty might have tumor in mouth...help!

Post by smokeybear894 »

My 9 year old Persian, Smokey who I love dearly has been having problems for the last month to 2 months. I noticed that when she would meow her tongue would hang to the left side of her mouth. I didn't think much of it at first because her brother Bear has always, since he was a kitten held his tongue out of the front of his mouth due to a small tracheal airway. However, about 2-2 1/2 weeks ago I noticed that she started drooling really bad. After she got up from sleeping there would be big spots from where her mouth had been. She went to the vet a month ago and was diagnosed with a respiratory infection and all of her bloodwork came back fine. Last week, I got really concerned and took her back for what I thought might have been a bad tooth and to my surprise was told she has a tumor. They had me bring her back the next day to sedate her to do a biopsy and was told it would be 5-7 business days from Friday that we would get the results back. It is now Tuesday and I have to say this has been the longest 6 days of my life. I have researched these symptoms on other websites and have found all the possibilities this could be but was wondering if any other cat lover out there has had this happen and what they went through. I love my Smokey so much. I can't imagine not having her around. If anyone out there has been through this please write.

I am afraid you won't really know until the biopsy report is back. Until then, try to be optimistic (there are various treatments you can talk to your vet about). I just want you to know I am thinking of your Smokey, it is obvious you love her very much!

Keep in close contact with your vet's office and be sure to update us here when the report comes back. Your doing the right thing, I'm sure eveyone here will agree that Smokey is in good hands, yours.
