he ran away!

this isnt really a health problem but my 8month old cat ran away today...
what are the chances of him coming back home?
do all cats know where thier home is?
please help!

yes, of course. please search or browse this forum, lots of advice around here on this.

nutshell : ask around, walk around, make familiar nosies (fork in bowl noises perhaps), put up posters, leave favorite food out (maybe some tuna, expect others to notice) and lastly dont give up.

This topic has some tips for helping to find a lost kitty...please contact your local animal shelters, give them a flyer and pic of your kitty, check every day (physically check the shelters, employees are swamped and cannot remember every pet that is found or brought in)...post flyers in your neighborhood,...ask your neighbors to join in the search....contact local veterinary clinics and give them flyers as well in the event someone finds your kitty injured...put a lost and found ad in your local newspaper, be descriptive (kitty's unique markings, male or female, collar worn, vacinity last seen, offer reward if possible)
