Tager is 4 years old. Went to my closet and he was hiding there crying and drooling like mad. I could see that he did vomit in the garage which we have a kitty door leading from inside to outside garage. Not sure if he did go outside as sometimes my husband leaves the door open without thinking the cats will get out. Was not aware if he was outside and my husband wasn't sure either as the sliding door was left open. Took him to emergency as I panicked and they took vital signs which was good. Since it was 7:30 AM - they asked me to take him directly to my vet. All xrays and blood work were fine. Liver blood work showed slight elevation but that was because he was vomiting. Had him hooked up to iv for 4 days of treatments but took him home at night to keep an eye on him. He started responding on the 4th day and has gradually been able to eat and drink. Still have him on antibotics. He is now getting back to some of his normal routines but is still very weak. Am hoping that once he gets off the antibotics that he won't get sick again. The vet almost gave up on him too but we decided to see what the weekend did for him. Not sure what could have happened here. Vet puzzled too.

My guess is he got into a toxin of some sort, either from the garage or from outside (chemicals, lawn chemicals, etc)...also consider heat stroke. Was there any open food packages in the garage? Anything rancid he could have gotten into?

I'd ask your vet if he thought to test for toxins and get a recheck at least on kidney and liver enzymes, rotenticide poisons for example, may exhibit obvious signs of toxicity, but may not show in kidney enzymes for up to three weeks later, in which kidney failure can occur at that time. Don't risk it, get a recheck on those labs. (see a new vet if necessary, on the offchance your current vet never thought of toxins or tested for them)
