I'll try my best to answer your questions.

The first cat, Sian, is probably about 1 year old, maybe a bit less. She had about £150 - £200 spent on tests including FELV/FIV which was considered as a possibility but has since been ruled out. Unfortunately she isn't insured and they have simply run out of money for the moment.

To be honest when they got her at about 7-8 weeks old you could tell she wasn't a normal cat. She seems mentally retarded. She doen't play like a normal kitten and she seems sort of vacant. Despite being a year old she still looks like a young kitten. She doesn't seem to have developed physically. In every other way she appears healthy so the vet sent her home.

Both cats are from local breeders (not my first choice!) and both are indoor cats.

The newest cat, Romeo, is probably about 12 - 14 weeks old. I haven't seen him but I'm told he's very healthy.

Hope that fill sin the blanks. Thanks for helping.

First, please keep updates in the same post,...it makes it difficult to sort through the forum looking for the main subject....

Next, I am still confused, the vet determined that the female kitty is suffering anemia, but he sent her home??? What is the treatment plan? Was the FELV/FIV a snap test, and was it positive?

Sorry I meant to reply on the same post. Must have hit the wrong key!

There was no treatment plan! They took her back to the vets yesterday but he still has no idea. Sounds a bit useless to me! The FELV/FIV test was negative. Not sure if it was a snap test or not.

Somebody suggested a bleeding, abdominal tumour could cause the anaemia. I think the vet would have noticed though. She's only tiny and I would have expected a routine check up to have revealed it.
