Re: Puzzling FIV Test Results

Thank you, Traci, for your reply. I must, however, take umbrage at your suggestion that alternative treatments are a waste of time.I have seen far too many cases where alternative treatments were used for cancer in both animals and humans with wonderful results. The vet that I am going to see is inc...

Re: Puzzling FIV Test Results

I brought Chester to the vet (not my regular vet, she was off that day) at the end of November because he had had diarrhea for a few days. The vet was palpitating his abdomen and felt something so he suggested an x-ray, which revealed a "mass" or thickening. This vet said that it was cance...

Puzzling FIV Test Results

My vet is fairly certain that our cat, Chester, has intestinal lymphoma and complete bloodwork was done on him before he was started on the leukaran/prednisone treatment. She said that his FIV results came back "weak positive". Now, he has had bloodwork done at least 4-5 times since he fir...

Food to Help Cat Gain Weight

I posted a few days ago about my cat, Chester, losing weight. Well, I've been kind of "force feeding" him - that is, putting a bowl of wet food in front of him every few hours (away from the other cats) and he's been eating really well. In fact, he's gained 2 ounces this week. So, I'm inte...

Re: Cat Losing Weight

We don't really know how old he is...probably between 10-13. In August he had some sort of virus. His fever got up to around 105 (which is why they did the sub-q's), he was lethargic and his appetite decreased. At that point they did retest him for FELV/FIV and he was negative. We have 4 other cats ...

Cat Losing Weight

We found Chester on our doorstep about 3-1/2 years ago and, after having the appropriate tests, brought him in to join our other 3 cats. He was the largest cat in the family, but the sweetest thing you've ever seen. The only problem we ever had with him was that he's had loose and very smelly stools...

Bump on cat's ear

My black cat has a little white bump on the outside of his ear, up near the tip. It looks like a tiny wart. There's another even smaller bump on the inside of the same ear.
It doesn't seem to bother him.
Any ideas?

Bowel Incontinence

My neighbor's 13 year old mixed breed dog has recently become bowel incontinent. It only happens when she sleeps. Other than hip problems, the dog seems to still have quite a bit of life left in her and they don't think it's time to put her down, yet. I have suggested that they take her to my holist...

cat teeth chattering

One of my cats chatters he teeth every time he yawns. He recently had his teeth cleaned by an anesthetic-free service and, besides scraping off a lot of tartar, they extracted 1 tooth. Otherwise, they didn't indicate that anything was wrong and I didn't think to tell them about the chattering. In th...
