Re: Medications...this might be touchy
But even most pharmacies don't really have more than 1 or 2 jars of a medicine in stock, except for larger places like KMart. They just reorder on a daily basis. It costs the same no matter what. And that plastic jar can't be more than a few cents... I do understand the time involved needs to be pa...

Re: Medications...this might be touchy
With cheap meds, it will sometimes work out this way. Because we cannot buy in bulk and stock a lot of any particular medications, we have a miminum dispensing charge (for us, it is $9). So even if you get 1 pill, it is still $9. We don't raise the price until the cost of the pills is more than the ...

Re: Sammie's Surgery
When we were at Cornell you had to pay in full at the time services were rendered. They had CareCredit brochures and flyers all over as I recall.
At the local specialist, if you are dropping the pet off, they take a deposit before they'll do anything.

Do they accept care credit? It can't hurt to apply for it if they do.

Re: Elbow surg. done
Normally we recommend crate rest - which means the area the dog is confined to is big enough for them to stand up, turn around, and situation themselves comfortable. No walking around the house, following mom around, etc. Check with your vet.

Re: Elbow Eysplasia - FMCP
I would get a referral to an orthopedic specialist for surgery. In my experience, dogs that had the surgery did much better afterwards.

Re: Arthritis drugs
I really like Zubrin as we don't see the GI upset with it. It seems to be really well tolerated.

Mikey is gone
At his recheck today, Mikey was blind in his left eye, wasn't blinking normally, and his pupil didn't respond properly to light. Based on the brain lesion or tumor, his back pain, and his poor quality of life, we put him to sleep today. He fought for the last 4 years of his short life... Thanks ever...

Re: Ulcers, leukeran
Just one episode of the coffee ground stuff (so we're assuming he has an ulcer)...His vomiting is actually decreased right now...he's just very skinny and still having his other GI issues. We're waiting 1-2 weeks to start the Leukeran as she wants his ulcer to have time to heal (we added in pepcid a...

Ulcers, leukeran
Mikey is doing about the same... He vomited up what looked like coffee grounds today, so I called his internist. She is starting him on Pepcid for a couple weeks. We also decided we might as well wean him off the dex and try leukeran. We'll do a week of Pepcid, then start Leukeran and wean the dex. ...
