Do all cats with hyperthyroidism necessarily have thyroid cancer? He just started on his meds today, my mom was shoving the pill down his throat when he was asleep lol

My 12 yr old kitty does this too, but I think its for attention. He also will sit at a sink and howl for water, and then when you water him he runs to the other sink and howls there :lol: He shares the box with two other cats, who are both dominant over him. He pees on certain spots on the rugs too....

hyperthyroidism in cats?
After fearing my 12 yr old tabby had kidney failure, we took him to the vet to have some tests done. Turns out there is blood in his urine- so he has antibiotics for that (looks like a UTI) They did a full blood panel and the nitrogen levels in his kidney function were elevated, but not out of norma...

Theyre taking him in first thing thursday morning.... my mom spoke to the vet tech and she said that it sounds like a UTI.... they will take a urine sample and because of his history, also take blood.

could this possibly be just behavioral changes? The only environmental changes that have occurred in his environment was that I moved out recently. I know when my dog died, another one of our cats began urinating on the rugs and compulsively grooming himself. I just feel that if we had got his blood...

She will take him in tomorrow or the next day if possible. I will NOT let it slip now that I know he might be sick. At their yearly checkups in Dec. I will have my other 12 yr old and 8 yr old's blood tested even though they are acting normal.
