Re: spay sway??

Hi again -- thanks for the advice, the body chart was helpful actually. She's quite fluffy (long-haired ancestor?) so it's hard to tell sometimes, but in looking at her from above she's still pretty well-proportioned, at most at the edge of 'ideal.' (She's very small in general -- less than seven po...

spay sway??

kind of a dumb question...my four-year-old kitty is developing a pouch sort of behind her tummy -- the kind of droopiness I've seen referred to as spay sway (awful term!). She has never been overweight and doesn't seem so now -- but does this signal the beginning of a weight problem we should addres...

Re: international move with 2 cats - one very vocal

A nonmedical opinion, if it helps...my husband and I moved internationally with our decidedly outspoken kitty earlier this year and our vet refused to sedate because our cat is quite small (6 lbs) and sedatives can have stronger impact at higher altitudes. BUT she was so bewildered by the changing s...

Re: plant toxic or not?

Yes, I think it is red ginger -- thanks for the list of toxic plants. It doesn't list it as toxic -- but then, I still can't find any information that suggests it isn't, either. Anyone know for sure?

plant toxic or not?

Hello, I have searched this site's very helpful plant database and several others that I've found on the Internet but still can't find an answer to my question, so thought I'd post in case there are any botanists lurking who can help. A friend has given me a houseplant, which after much searching I'...

exterminators and cats

My husband, 2-year-old cat and I are moving to a new apartment (same building, one floor up) in about 10 days. They're fumigating it today before we move in as a preventative measure. My vet's advice was to wait at least 3-4 days and to wash all surfaces down with hot, soapy (dishwashing soap) water...

Re: cat eaten string??

Thanks everybody for the suggestions....I did look pretty carefully for the string, in all her usual toy hiding places, and haven't found anything yet. But she's alert and active, begging to play, eating normally and using the litter as usual, so we'll just keep an eye on her for the next few days. ...

cat eaten string??

Got up this morning to discover my almost-two-year-old, very mischievious cat Odessa has destroyed her new cat-chaser toy ... usually my husband and I are very careful about putting it away after playtime but she got at it last night after we went to bed. Anyway, we've located the mouse and the wand...
