Hi Traci, Slate seemed to be having large BM's every other day. We slowly switched his dry from the Purina One Indoor formula to the T/D food. As of 2 days ago he is on 100% T/D food. Thanks so much for the pumpkin and hairball remedy suggestions. We will definately talk to our vet about trying them...

Re: Scab at the Bellybutton
Hi Traci, Meekos was groomed last week so we can see all areas of his body exept for his tail. There are no other scabs (thank goodness). We are not sure how long the scab has been there. The groomer found the scab - she accidently pulled off the old scab during the groom. It didn't bleed but the ar...

Scab at the Bellybutton
Hi, We have a 14 year old shih-tzu mix dog who we adopted about 4 years ago. His name is Meekos. He has a large scab on his bellybutton. We took him to our vet today and we got some special cream to put on the scab, and the surrounding area (that is inflammed). He is not scratching or licking the ar...

Re: New Kitty - Litter Box Activity Question
Hi, Slate BM update: We are feeding him a t/d dry food diet (high in fiber). I also give him 1 tablespoon of wet food mixed with water - just to get some more liquid into him. He has had a BM 2 days in a row (yeah). My fingers are crossed for another one tonight. Slate has a strange habit. He likes ...

Good News Story
I was visiting my mother and there was a large orange and white cat in her backyard. She told me that he had been visiting her yard for a few months. She assumed that he had a home and that he was an inside/outside cat. During my visit he cried at the back patio door and tried to get in the house . ...

Re: New Kitty - Litter Box Activity Question
Hi, We just got back from seeing the vet. We are going to switch over to a food that is higher in fibre to see if that helps with his BMs. He hasn't had a BM in over 24 hours. There is a chance that he might be suffering from megacolon. Slate will need an x-ray in order to be diagnosed with megacolo...

Re: New Kitty - Litter Box Activity Question
Hi Traci,
Thank you for your calming words. I tend to worry about every little thing. I will let you know how his appointment goes.
Slate was given Milbemax on January 10th by the vet at the shelter.

New Kitty - Litter Box Activity Question
Hi, I used to post here about my cat, Butternut. He had diabetis for 10 years. We gave him insulin shots twice a day until he passed away in April, 2011 at 13 years old. He was a happy cat who loved to play with his "springs". I still miss him terribly. 2 weeks ago we added a new kitty (Sl...

Re: Infected Nipple - Male Cat
We just got back from the vet. We will be treating the lump with anti-biotic cream for a few days. If it gets larger and isn't healing we will go back for surgery on Monday/Tuesday of next week. The colour of the lump changed from white to red over the course of 24 hours. The lump doesn't seem to be...

Infected Nipple - Male Cat
Hi, I have posted about Butternut in the past - he is a 10 year old orange and white kitty who has diabetis. We give him insulin 2x a day. He is an inside kitty. I just noticed that one of his nipples is in the center of a raised whitish crusty looking growth, about 1/8th of an inch high, and about ...
