Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

Hi Traci, Sadly, surrounded by Oz's family, we had to put him down last Thursday. It is a very difficult time for us all. We miss him terribly. Oz's health started to decline mid November, and we took him in for several checkups. By Christmas, it was clear we were on borrowed time. We spent most of ...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

Yes. The mass is gone from what we can feel.

I really think we caught this early. All his blood work has been good too throughout the many months, and yes, we will continue with checkups on an ongoing basis. We have already discussed this with our vet.

Cheers! (and thanks) :D

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

Thanks Traci. No, we did not have surgery afterall as the vet with who I settled with did not think it was necessary. This experience was fairly easy with Oz. He's just that kind of cat, who just 'goes with the flow'. He's relaxed and laid back, and that has made my decision process fairly easy in t...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

Hello I thought I would post an update. Oz has just completed his 25 weeks of WM protocol and he's breezed through it without any major complications. He's a trooper for sure to put up with all the vet visits. We now will be starting Lukeren and continiuing with the Pred for a maintenance stage. We ...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

It's been some weeks. Just an update. Oz has been on the MW protocol for 3 treatments now. He is doing very well, and the mass in his neck has disappeared to the touch...woot! We haven't had any side effects from the chemo itself. The outlook is looking very bright at the moment and we are very plea...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

I had a rather lengthy phone conversation with the new vet and he did recomend the COP protocol as what he would usually use under these circumstances, with introduction of doxorubicin after several treatments (if I understood correctly, of course) He did not say I could not opt for MW protocol if I...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

We came home from the vet tonight, as we took Oz in for an ultrasound and x-ray. Of course we got results we did not anticipate based on our previous biopsies which told us otherwise. The report read... The jejunal lymphnodes were enlarged in a cluster of 4. and measure 0.5-1.2 cm, causing a. Simila...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

Thanks Traci, Last night I emailed two places. The Guelph Vet college/oncologist there that is registered as board certified and another facility in Scarborough (just outside of toronto) at tvrh.ca. I recieved an email last night from tvrh from the 24 hour staff saying they would pass it on to the r...

Re: Help/advice on possible lymphoma

I just sent off an email to the Guelph College to a specialist in vet oncology. I don't know if he will get back to me, but I thought I would try and get his opinion and/or advice. Anything of course would help. At this point I don't know if help could be found elsewhere. Financially and with knowle...

Thank you Tina B and Crew. Yes, it is difficult. My case is no different than many others of course. It was suggested on another forum that I shop around to see if there are any local vets in the area who can administer the chemo treatments at a lesser cost. I don't know. I'll look into it and make ...
