Re: Sick or just a Itch?
I'm sure Traci will sound off on this soon, but until then, check these previous posts about similar situations: http://www.cathelp-online.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10175&highlight=hair http://www.cathelp-online.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10114&highlight=hair http://www.cathelp-online.com/f...

Re: New Kitten timid and hiding! Please help!
Traci- Yep the vet said that if she is still symptomatic next week we will need to reschedule the booster. She's also on the verge of getting her adult teeth (hence all the chewing?) so by then she may get a rabies vaccine too. All dependent upon her health of course. She's eating and drinking and p...

Re: New Kitten timid and hiding! Please help!
Hi everyone, just wanted to give you an update on Fiona. She's doing much better, very very happy to be petted and loved. She had her first vet appointment today, and while she wasn't thrilled, she didn't put up a fight when examined or when I needed to put her in/take her out of the carrier. She go...

Re: Any Luck with Scratching Posts?
We just got her a giant scratching post and she took to it right away. She's been scratching and climbing away, happy as a clam, and not a shred on the furniture . No incentives needed.

Re: SHY KITTEN
I just went through a very similar thing. Our kitten hid behind the furniture for several days before coming out while we were there. Definitely put it in one room and close it off so it can get used to that space. Then later, you can introduce it to the rest of the house. We've had our kitten for t...

Re: Any Luck with Scratching Posts?
Hm okay, well how else should I entice her to scratch on her scratchy thing/scratching post? She did it once yesterday, and was lauded with praise and scritches. I'm hoping if I"m able to say "no" enough and direct her to the scratchy thing, she may eventually get the hint.

Re: Any Luck with Scratching Posts?
I bought Fiona (13 weeks) one of those cardboard scratchy thingies that comes with catnip. She seemed to sort of like the catnip, but hasn't used the scratcher much. I bought her some more catnip (Mr. Whiskers I think) that she doesn't like, so I purchased two more brands today including the cosmic ...

Re: litter
I've been using wheat litter. It clumps, but it's biodegradable and natural, no icky chemicals for the kitty to pick up. It works really well and neutralizes the oder well too. I really like it.

Re: New Kitten timid and hiding! Please help!
She finally let me pet her today, so that's great. My new goals are to try to get her used/accomodated to being picked up/held, and to get used to people walking around. She generally hides when anyone comes in/leaves/is walking around the room. I have a vet appt scheduled for next Tuesday, I think ...

Right, I'm not feeding tuna exclusively, not sure where that came from. It's a treat. She eats the Purina kitten chow she was eating at the shelter for now. I may switch brands later, but I wanted to give her what she's used to.
